5-Day Korea Itinerary for First-Time Visitors – Slow, Balanced, and Beautiful

If this is your first time in Korea, chances are you're feeling a mix of excitement and overwhelm. So much to see. So little time. But don’t worry—Korea is not a place you have to conquer in a hurry.

This 5-day itinerary is designed with first-timers in mind. It balances must-see sights with pockets of calm, modern neighborhoods with cultural gems, and enough space to simply breathe. Think of it as a soft landing into a country that deserves to be savored, not rushed.

Day 1 – Arrival & Soft Landing in Seoul
Morning:

- Arrive at Incheon Airport
- Pick up SIM card, T-Money transit card, and exchange a bit of cash
- Take the AREX or a taxi to your hotel; check in or drop off luggage

Afternoon:

- Explore Insadong, known for traditional crafts, teahouses, and art galleries
- Try your first Korean dish—bibimbap or bulgogi

Evening:

- Stroll along the gentle stream of Cheonggyecheon
- Keep it light tonight—early bedtime helps reset your rhythm for the trip ahead
 
Day 2 – Palaces, Hanoks & the Heart of Tradition
Morning:

- Visit Gyeongbokgung Palace (consider renting a hanbok for free entry)
- Walk through Bukchon Hanok Village, a living museum of Korean homes

Afternoon:

- Take an early KTX train (2.5 hrs from Seoul)
- Visit Bulguksa Temple, Tumuli Park, and Anapji Pond
- Stay overnight to soak in the quiet, heritage-rich atmosphere

Option B: Nami Island & Petite France

- Morning train + bus from Seoul (~2 hrs)
- Enjoy tree-lined paths, riverside views, and charming photo spots
- Return to Seoul by evening
 
Day 4 – Creative Corners & Modern Seoul
Morning:

- Explore Hongdae – street art, indie music, and youth culture
- Shop from local designers or vintage stores

Afternoon:

- Unwind in Yeonnam-dong, a quieter side of Seoul with bookstores and hidden cafés
- Stroll along Gyeongui Line Forest Park, a peaceful urban walking path

Evening:

- Dive into Myeongdong street food: tteokbokki, Korean fried chicken, hotteok
- Do some night shopping for cosmetics or souvenirs
 
Day 5 – A Gentle Goodbye
Morning:

- Light breakfast at a rooftop café with a view
- Last-minute shopping for snacks, skincare, or gifts

Midday:

- Head to Incheon Airport
- If time allows, visit the Starfield Library inside the airport for a quiet farewell moment
